Stone Entertainment has been caught in a legal wrangle with the NBA over the NBA 2K16 video game franchise.
Stone is being sued by the NBA, which accuses the company of violating its copyright, according to TMZ.TMZ reports that the NBA is alleging that Stone Entertainment created the video game, which is based on the classic rock band The Doors, without permission.
Stone Entertainment is also being sued for allegedly violating the NBA’s trademark rights, which are controlled by the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board.TMz reported that the trademark infringement claim was brought in California, which has jurisdiction over the case.
The NBA has denied the claims.
Stone declined to comment.
