AMC Entertainment and Breaking Bad creator Vince Gilligan’s spinoff Better Call Saul is getting a sequel.
The studio has ordered a pilot script and is developing the series for a second season.
It’s a move that could have a major impact on the franchise, which has been in production for more than a decade.
The original Breaking Bad ran for seven seasons from 2013-2018.
AMC’s Breaking Out of the Closet, the second-longest-running spinoff of the AMC series, premiered in 2018 and will continue the storyline.
The Breaking Bad spinoff will focus on Saul Goodman, a former police detective turned meth kingpin who has been outfitted with the body armor and protective gear of a superhero.
Gilligan, who is also executive producing the new series, wrote the first half of Better Call, which is set to air in 2019.
He also executive produced Breaking Bad and has worked on other shows, including Homeland and The Walking Dead.
